Tailor-made Yukon Holidays
Wherever you’re lucky enough to glimpse them, the Northern Lights are spectacular. But when they’re up against a backdrop of snow-blanketed scenery, sitting atop a vast wilderness where grizzlies and Polar bears roam, you can expect the most mesmerising of displays. Enter the Yukon. This is Canada at its wildest, most remote and most inspirational. In the winter the aurora borealis dances above mountains in a twirl of green ribbons, getting you as close to nature as you can ever hope to get. Camp out under the emerald canopy, see it from a snowmobile, or experience it as you try husky mushing across glistening white landscapes. Or why not visit in summer and see the midnight sun instead? A massive daily dose of daylight hours gives you more time to hike, raft the Tatshenshini River, seek wildlife and explore heritage sites.

When to Go to Yukon
Yukon offers contrasting experiences depending on the season. In the summer months of June to August, temperatures can reach up to 25°C, while the average hours of daylight can be as long as 20 hours in July. With the long days, summer is an idea time to see wildlife or enjoy outdoor activities such as canoeing. While spring and autumn offer similarly cooler conditions, temperatures drop right down to the negative in the winter months of December to February. The average high temperature in January is an incredible -13°C, making winter quite an extreme time to visit. If you can handle the cold, it’s a fantastic time to see the Northern Lights, as well as enjoy other winter pursuits including snowmobiling, dog sledding and ice fishing.
