How Long Does It Take to Fly to the Caribbean?
As one of the world’s most popular island destinations, flights to Central American and the Caribbean are a great way to start a holiday. When travelling from the UK, Caribbean flights can disembark at any number of airports, depending on your chosen island. Some of the most popular routes include London to Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua and Jamaica. Flights from London to Barbados for example, take approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes and disembark at Grantley Adams International Airport in Bridgetown.
Most people book their Caribbean flights with sunbathing in mind. With ample coastline and plenty of resort pools, swimming is of course the activity de jour in the region. But it’s not the only thing to do either. Away from the coastline and resort pools, the Caribbean has a number of natural wonders that should be on your to-do list, like the limestone caves of Barbados or the incredible drive-in volcano of St Lucia.
Snorkelling and scuba-diving are also popular activities in the region with some of the best spots found off the coast of Bonaire, Dominica and Grenada, which has an underwater sculpture park. While enjoying stunning beaches and warm weather is what makes the Caribbean such a popular place, there's plenty in the way of culture and indoor activities to enjoy - namely dining and spas. For relaxation in luxurious surroundings, St Lucia and Grenada are home to some spectacular spa resorts where luxury and nature blend seamlessly.
To taste the Caribbean, seafood lovers will be in their element with the freshest of fish and crayfish in abundance. To build up an appetite, don't miss wandering through the various local markets available on the island. For many of the islands, you'll also find a blend of spices with places such as Nevis and Barbados fusing flavours from African and European cuisine.
